The Jackson Heights 74 Street, Roosevelt train station above the 7 line reveals how just in one shot you can see examples of the many different foods you can find in one of the worlds most diverse neighborhoods.  Jackson Heights is known for where Scrabble was invented, Charlie Chaplin once lived, has many historic homes one can walk through.  Jackson Heights is also known for the very first garden apartments that appeared in the United States in the early 1900s.  Here you can find private spacious parks within apartment buildings that only its resident can enjoy.  Only once a year there is a Garden Apartment Tour open to the public.    

The elevated subway line at Roosevelt was built in 1917.  It connected Jackson Heights to Grand Central Station.  It you are a Great Gatsby era fan, then this would have been a great place to live.  It was in the 1920's, during Jackson Heights Golden Era, beautiful buildings were constructing with stunning private gardens.

How did it become so diverse?  It was during the 1960s, around the time the World Fair of 1964, Jackson Heights attracted new immigrants.  Today there are many immigrants from Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa.  This is evident with how many different types of ethnic are available in Jackson Heights.  Pakistani Kababs, Bangladeshi Fish, Indian Sweets, Nepali Momo, Columbian Puchero, Ecuadorian Ceviche, Peruvian Jalea can be found within a few blocks.
